Texas Department of Public Safety has issued a travel warning to spring breakers heading to Mexico or Texas border towns. Basically DPS is asking you NOT to go.  There has been an increase in drug cartel killings in recent weeks. In spite of being next to the US, Mexico is basically a third world country.  The lawless nature of the place has not been this bad since the days of Pancho Villa. Would you let your child spring break in Somalia?  How about Beirut? Of course not. Then put the stop to any border town crossings.Spring break somewhere decent may cost a couple of dollars more. Mexico is not worth the risk.

The Texas Attorney General has issued a warning about a new online chat service directed to children.  You chat with someone that is randomly selected.  So the child or parent has no true idea of who you are talking to. Very dangerous. Attorney General Abbott has lots of good information on his site. Below is the link.

There has been several media reports about the assault of a local resident and the theft of some valuable jewelry. My sources feel that this is not a random crime. One arrest has been made.

Local NE Dallas parks and creeks

There has been an increase in coyote sightings in recent weeks. These may increase with the warmer weather.  With areas of the coyote habitat being developed, sightings and foraging will increase. There was a recent report of two coyotes "attacking" two pre-teen boys at a Plano park. This is extremely rare.  So rare that the story is being looked at more closely.  There have not been any further attacks in that park.

Be aware of any stray animals when out with your kids or pets especially small dogs or cats.  If you think that coyotes or wild dogs may be close or have been seen.  Please keep yout pet inside.  Or go out with them when they stretch their legs. We do not want anything bad to happen to your pets. For a wild animal these small pets are a quick and easy meal.  We do not want that to happen to your loved pet.
